2023, Ph.D. in Chemistry & Chemical Biology, Cornell University (Ando Lab)
2017, B.S. in Biological Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Cornell University
Gabrielle Illava Ph.D. is a recent graduate from the lab of Prof. Nozomi Ando at Cornell University, where she worked on X-ray instrumentation and the structural characterization of oxygen sensitive metalloproteins. Gabrielle will continue her work in biophysical instrumentation development during her post-doctoral research here in the Si lab. In lab, she is very interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms of life with a focus on the evolutionary history of life on earth, and developing experimental tools to study organisms in as close to their natural physiological state as possible.
Outside of lab she enjoys hiking, swimming, eating delicious food and traveling with her family and pets.
